Circulating system
In circulating system the necessary plat nutrients are mixed
in right proportion and taken in a tank .with the help of pump and pipe system
nutrition solution is supplied to the crop. Everyday the pump is operated for
at list 7 to 8 hours .In this system in
first year we have to bear the cost of tray , pump, and pipe But from the second year it only cost the
chemical nutrient .so cost become lower from the second year.
Here galvanizing iron made tray is used for media container
which is kept in a stand and connected to a tank through plastic pipe. In the
tray cork-sheet is placed and holes r made where seedlings are transplanted.
After transplanting every day 8-10 hours water is circulated for increasing the
oxygen supply in the plant root, after all the roots are in water. Always in
the tray at list 6-8 cm water should be kept. Generally every 12-25 days after
the water should be changed.
The pH should be kept in between 5.8-6.5, if pH is more then 7 then iron, manganese-molibdate and other micro nutrient deficiency is observed. In this situation hydrocloric acid (HCL), nitric acid (HNO3) or phosphoric acid(HPO4) is given in the solution in correct proportion. Again if the pH become less then 5.8 then NaOH or KOH is used to maintain the pH. If the EC concentration become higher then 2.5 ds/m then fresh water should me given in the solution. Every day in morning and in afternoon the pH and EC should be checked for making proper combination of pH and EC.

Non-circulating system
In this technique the necessary elements for plant growth
are taken in a tray and crops are grown directly. Here there is no need of pump
or water circulation. In this way food nutrient mixed solution and the distance
of the cork sheet should be at list 5-7cm and in cork sheet there should be 4-5
holes for air movement and continuous oxygen supply. Pot culture is also
included in non-circulating system. We can use plastic bucket, water bottle,
earthen pot etc for hydroponic culture in our home yard. Here cost is
comparatively very low.
Open water system
Research on hydroponic culture in open water is still going on. Here plants are raised in open water source like pond or lake, concrete tank can also be used in this purpose .In open water root growth is very proper so production is high.
