If we think about a plant, we draw a picture in our mind that a creature with green leaves which is on the soil. But can we imagine a plant growing without soil? I know its quit difficult as we know aquatic plants even need touch of soil for their nourishment. In case of economic crop it is unbelievable to grow plant with out soil. But now it is all possible to grow fruits and vegetables all in water by the technology Hydroponic. Last week I paid a visit in BARI Horticulture Center and came to know all about, where Dr. Salim Reza has helped me so much. Now I am going to share the knowledge with all of you.

Introductory

Hydroponic is a modern crop production technique where valuable crops are raised in controlled environment in water media without any soil by providing essential nutrients .In any over populous country like Bangladesh, where there is less or no land for crop cultivation , there in house roof , home yard , poly-tunnel , net –house it is possible to grow crops using hydroponic system , in developed world like Europe, America, Japan, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and middle-east countries vegetables and fruits are grown in commercial basis . in this way  crop production is possible round the year without using any pesticide . so the market value of the produce is very high . In Bangladesh hydroponic system has been introduced by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).

   Advantage

*In this method there is no need of cultivable land and production is possible through the year.

*As this system is soil less so there is no chance of soil born diseases and nematodes.

*The insect attack is comparatively very low.

*This is an ideal home farming system and much profitable.
*Over all high yield potential          

Limitation

• Need experienced and skilled person to operate all this system, specially for solution preparation, measurement of pH of solution, identifying scarcity of nutrition.
• It need net house or glass house so primarily the cost is high .
• All kind of crop cant be grown in this technique.
